The annual vignette covers the vignette year, which runs from 1 December of the previous year until 31 January of the following year — 14 months of usable validity. Bought online by a consumer, it can start on the 18th day after purchase at the earliest.
It is valid on Austria's motorways and expressways. Some routes — the Brenner motorway and several tunnel and alpine roads — carry a separate section toll that a vignette does not cover.
