Road charges in Switzerland

Yes โ€” you need a vignette to use Swiss motorways, and Switzerland sells exactly one: an annual e-vignette. There is no daily, weekly or monthly option, so a single day on a Swiss motorway costs the same as a full year.

It is now electronic and linked to your licence plate. Motorcycles pay the same price as cars, and the vignette also applies to trailers.

Switzerland prices in Swiss francs. We show the official franc price alongside the euro amount we charge.

Prices start at CHFย 40.00 for a annual car vignette (official the Federal Office for Customs and Border Security price, verified 2026-08-19).

What we do not cover

The vignette covers the motorway network. Some Alpine tunnels โ€” the Great St Bernard among them โ€” charge separately, and car-carrying rail shuttles such as the Furka and Lรถtschberg are always paid at the terminal.
